Duncan Jackson is a partner of Billings Jackson Design, which he co-founded in 1992. The firm specializes in the design of products and systems for the built environment – a discipline Duncan terms Applied Industrial Design. With studios in London, New York and Chicago, the firm has won more than 40 design awards.
Duncan originally trained as an engineer and subsequently as a furniture designer. In 2005, he was invited to become a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) for the encouragement of Arts, Manufacture and Commerce. He has pioneered Billings Jackson Design’s support of the RSA in the US; as a result, the studio has become founder-sponsor of the annual Student Design Awards. Duncan is an experienced industry speaker and a member of the ’Strategies in Light’ advisory board.
